Douglas Foster, former editor of Mother Jones, now associate professor at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, speaks today on his book about contemporary South Africa, After Mandela: The Struggle for Freedom in Post-Apartheid South Africa (Liveright Books). Based on interviews with everyone from President Zuma to political figures, dissidents, even outsiders (such as homeless teenagers), After Mandela is one of the rare books to take on the current political and economic situation.
