The Pledge is hosting a neighborhood conversation and baby food/formula and fundraiser drive at Peloton Café & Bike Shop on Friday, Oct. 7, with the business offering happy hour specials 5-8 p.m.

Created by Be:Seattle founder Devin Silvernail, The Pledge works to find businesses to agree to open their shops and storefronts to homeless individuals seeking temporary shelter from the heat or cold, to use the restroom, a place to charge their cellphones or make a call and to get a drink or food. The drive and happy hour is also meant to thank Peloton for participating in The Pledge.

Attendees at Friday’s event will have the opportunity to learn about the community benefit of safe drug consumption sites from VOCAL-WA (Voices of Community Activists and Leaders) representatives, while District 3 Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant will address ending homelessness and former mayor Mike McGinn will speak about grassroots community organizing. Speakers will start at 6 p.m.
