Oasis Tea Zone and Eastern Café owner I-Miun Liu will reinvent the former Sun Liquor Distillery & Bar space on East Pike Street as the East Trading Company, an Asian-inspired restaurant and lounge.

Sun Liquor Distillery & Bar closed at the end of June, so owner Michael Klebeck could relocate operations to a larger industrial space behind University Village. The flagship Sun Liquor Lounge is still operating at 607 Summit Ave.

“I was actually just online looking for some businesses, and I stumbled upon that,” Liu said. “It has a great history, a great location.”

Liu said he wants East Trading Company — the name playing off his successful Eastern Café — to be an affordable spot for people to come for food and drinks.

“It’s going to be Asian-themed food and cocktails. It’s going to be food I grew up on,” he said. “The drinks are going to be herbal and tea-infused cocktails.”

East Trading Company is expected to open in the next few months, Liu said, after some minor renovations and redecorating.

“I think it’s going to be a great space,” he said. “It already has great bones to it.”
