Holiday in the Park revelers took the edge off with hot cocoa and cookies in Volunteer Park on Thursday, with the soundtrack of the annual event provided by five local choral ensembles.

This is the fifth year the Volunteer Park Trust has hosted the holiday gathering, with luminaria bags lighting the pathways.

Music was provided in front of the Seattle Asian Art Museum by Holy Names Vocal Ensemble, Sing Noel, Lakeside Acafellas, Voices of Inspiration and The Beaconettes.

Next to the station with Whole Foods cookies, Darigold was providing hot cocoa and eggnog, the December chill generating lengthy lines.

Volunteers helped children and parents put together glow-in-the-dark headpieces at the kids activity booth, with crowns and sunglasses being popular options.

Christmas trees and Poinsettias bordered the Holiday Express Train running in the Volunteer Park Conservatory, which became more popular as the temperature dipped.

Patrons can check out the Holiday Express Train through the end of the year during normal conservatory hours, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. Santa will be at the conservatory to take gift requests noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9 and 16.
