Seattle Police report a 27-year-old man was arrested for investigation of robbery after he allegedly stole a vehicle while the driver was still inside and then assaulted him when he attempted to call 911 on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

An SPD Blotter post states a 41-year-old man had left his vehicle running in the 800 block of 12th Avenue in Capitol Hill while sleeping in the backseat. 

He woke up to someone driving his car, and then used his cellphone to call 911, the report states. The 27-year-old suspect reportedly stopped the car at Lakeview and East Highland Drive when he noticed the man calling 911, got out of the car and went around back and punched the victim in the head and face. The victim got out of the car, and the suspect drove away.

Police report an officer in the West Precinct spotted the stolen vehicle and attempted to pull it over. The suspect reportedly fled, but crashed near Fairview Avenue North and Roy Street where he was arrested.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of robbery, while the victim was taken to a hospital for injuries sustained during the alleged assault.
