Seattle Police report it’s unclear whether a 24-year-old gunshot victim was attempting to break into vehicles near Cal Anderson Park early Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the 1700 block of 12th Avenue around 2 a.m. Thursday, where they found the 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg.

“The victim of the shooting, unprompted, told the officer that he ‘didn’t break into that guy’s car,’ according to an SPD Blotter post.

Officers provided first aid until Seattle Fire responded. He was then transported to Harborview Medical Center.

The suspect was described by the victim and witnesses as a 6-foot-2-inches tall, 170-pound white man with a shave head, who was wearing all blue clothing, and armed with a revolver.

While police suspect the victim may have been attempting to break into parked car, according to the blotter, none were found in the area to have been prowled.

The SPD is asking anyone that may have information related to this case to call 206-684-5550.
