- The Capitol Hill Times -
Capitol Hill! The beauty of your landscape, dotted with colorful architectural flowers,
some modest wood frame, and some extravagant brick and stone, patrimony of the last century is being slowly blanketed by the uncontrolled growth of modern day weeds!
The sweet songs of sparrows and robins are drowned out by the rat-tat-tat of jack hammers, (instead of woodpeckers) and the unnerving humming of heavy construction equipment (instead of the gay humming of the humming birds and bumble bees).
The plunder and pillage of your treasures continue daily, micro-living, multiple housing, cheap particle board apartment buildings are the fast growing, out of control weeds, against which no weed killer exists! The ghosts of the destroyed houses haunt me as they whisper: “Remember!” to one who can never forget!
Remember, Seattle, the not-so-ancient beauty of Capitol Hill. What will it look like in a decade or two? And the destroyers of its beauty hide behind the word “developers” while the only thing that they develop are their banks accounts.
Say, all say: We have not come to bury you Capitol Hill, we have come to praise you!
