“Any man can be a father but it takes someone special to be a dad.” - Anne Geddes

Last week I attended a wedding that served chocolate fondue instead of a traditional, multi-layer wedding cake. I was delighted. A year before, I saw cookies, homemade lavender ice cream, and every variety of pie offered up as replacements. As much as I like the typical hard-as-cement or doused-in-frosting wedding cakes (I don’t), I get excited when someone strays from the norm and personalizes the event with what they like best. The same can apply to birthdays and holidays. Like Thanksgiving.
If you need a last-minute idea for a Thanksgiving dessert—or just want a good recipe to have on hand—and are okay with breaking away from the traditional pumpkin pie, this dense, moist chocolate cake will do the trick. Even more so if you add berries.
